Privacy Policy — The Village

This Privacy Policy explains how Gibbons Recruitment Ltd (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, and protects
your personal information when you use The Village mobile application (“the App”). It is separate from
the privacy policy governing our recruitment agency services.
We are the data controller for the personal information processed through the App. If you have any

Who we are
The App is provided by Gibbons Recruitment Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company
number 16769867), with its registered office at 25 Caldicot Close, Willsbridge, Bristol, BS30 6UU, United
Kingdom.
The information we collect
We only collect information needed to provide the App’s features. Specifically:
Account information. When you sign in using Google, we receive basic account identifiers from Google
— your name and email address — to create and secure your account. We do not receive your Google
password.
Profile information you provide. Information you enter to build your profile, including your name,
current role, industry, years of experience, location (entered by you as free text — the App does not
access your device’s GPS or precise location), a short bio, and your skills.
CV information. If you choose to add it, the text of your CV or professional experience, which the App
may process to power features such as profile analysis and matching.
Community content. If you post in the App’s community area (“the Atrium”), we collect the content of
your posts and your interactions (such as likes). Please note that content you post in the community is
visible to other users of the App.
Subscription information. If you purchase a subscription to access premium features, the purchase is
processed by the app store (Google Play) and our subscription provider, RevenueCat. We receive
confirmation of your subscription status and related transaction identifiers. We do not collect or store
your full payment card details — these are handled by the app store.
We do not use any analytics or crash-reporting tools, and we do not collect your device location,
contacts, photos, or advertising identifiers.
How we use your information

We use your information to:
● create, secure, and manage your account;
● provide the App’s core features, including your profile, the career map, matching, and the
community area;
● process and manage subscriptions and access to premium features;
● respond to your enquiries and provide support;
● maintain the security and integrity of the App and prevent misuse;
● comply with our legal obligations.
Legal bases (UK GDPR / EU GDPR). We process your information on the basis of: your consent (which
you may withdraw at any time); the performance of a contract with you (to provide the App and any
subscription); our legitimate interests (to operate, secure, and improve the App); and where necessary
to comply with a legal obligation.

How your information is stored and shared
Your information is stored using Supabase, our backend and database provider, which hosts data on
secure cloud infrastructure. Some of this processing may take place outside the United Kingdom or
European Economic Area. Where data is transferred internationally, we take steps to ensure it is
protected by appropriate safeguards, consistent with UK and EU data protection law.
We share your information only with service providers who help us operate the App, and only as needed
for them to provide their service to us:
● Google — for sign-in and authentication;
● Supabase — for backend hosting and data storage;
● RevenueCat and the app store (Google Play) — for processing subscriptions.
These providers process data on our behalf under contractual obligations. We do not sell your personal
information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
We may also disclose information where required to do so by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or
property of our users or others.


How long we keep your information
We keep your personal information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the
App. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymise your personal information within a
reasonable period, except where we are required to retain certain information to meet legal or
regulatory obligations.
Your rights
Under UK and EU data protection law, you have the right to:
● access the personal information we hold about you;

● request that we correct inaccurate or incomplete information;
● request that we delete your information (“the right to be forgotten”);
● restrict or object to how we process your information;
● receive your information in a portable format so you can transfer it elsewhere;
● withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on consent.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at admin@gibbonsrecruitment.com. You also have the right
to lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk, or with your
local data protection authority.
Deleting your account and data
You can request deletion of your account and associated personal information at any time by contacting
us at admin@gibbonsrecruitment.com. We will action your request in accordance with applicable data
protection law.
Children
The App is not intended for use by children under the age of 16, and we do not knowingly collect
personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information,
please contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update
the “Last updated” date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you within the App.
